Bikram Yoga

yoga is at least about 5,000 years old. The hindus of the Indus valley civilization developed yoga as a practical device to unite the individual self with the Brahman, the universal self. It was codified about 2,000 years back into a system by Patanjali in his work Yoga Sutra.

His yoga, known as ashtanga Yoga (or eight-limbed yoga) came to be the authority on yogic practice. These eight limbs are to be practiced in sequence to achieve its spiritual end. In the modern age yoga came to be understood as Hatha yoga, which practices the third and fourth limbs of ashtanga Yoga - asanas and Pranayama.

hatha yoga, meaning sun-moon yoga, aims to unite the active and passing energies of the human beings. It harmonizes the body-mind relationship, and achieves a balance. The body becomes supple and strong. The mind relaxes and the stress eases. The internal systems, such as blood circulation, nervous system, digestive system and the endocrine system, are improved.

There are many systems of Hatha Yoga, such as ashtanga Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Vini Yoga, Integral yoga, Sivananda yoga and Bikram yoga. Basically they hold postures that exercise the system. It is formulated by different teachers, giving importance to different aspects of hatha Yoga.

Bikram Choudhry, the founder of Bikram Yoga, was born in Kolkatta in 1946. He became a disciple of Bishnu Gosh, the brother of Paramahamsa Yogananda, at the age of four. His mastery of the hatha yoga technique was so good that he continuously won the Indian yoga championship, and retired undefeated at a very young age. Bikram started many training centers for yoga, on the direction of his master Bishnu Gosh. Later, he founded his own system of yoga known as Bikram Yoga.

Bikram Yoga is a series of 26 postures, done inside a heated room. The temperature is maintained at about 90 100o. This warms the body naturally, and the postures are easily accomplished. The series starts with standing postures, backward bends, forward bends and twists. Each posture is repeated twice. The full routine takes about 90 minutes.

Bikram has a school in Los angeles where teachers impart yoga practice. He also travels throughout America organizing workshops and seminars.

Cisco CCNP Certification / BSCI Exam Tutorial: Comparing IRDP And HSRP

To pass the BSCI exam, you need to know the difference between IRDP and HSRP. While they have the same basic function, the operation and configuration of each are totally different.

The aim of both is to allow hosts to quickly discover a standby router when the primary router fails. IRDP is commonly used by Windows DHCP clients and several Unix variations, but you do see it in Cisco routers as well. IRDP is defined in RFC 1256.

IRDP routers will multicast Hello messages that host devices hear. If a host hears from more than one IRDP router, it will choose one as its primary and will start using the other router if the primary it's chosen goes down.

HSRP is a Cisco-proprietary protocol that is designed for quick cutover to a secondary router if the primary fails, but the host devices don't "see" either the primary or secondary router. The hosts use a virtual router as their default gateway. This virtual router has its own IP and mac address! All the while, the router chosen as the primary is actually the one doing the routing. If the primary router goes down, the secondary router quickly takes over with no major interruption to network services.

The HSRP routers communicate by multicasting updates to 224.0.0.2, and its through these hellos that the HSRP routers decide which router is primary and which is secondary. HSRP is defined in RFC 2281.

The configuration of each of these will be covered in a future tutorial. In the meantime, I urge you to read the RFCs mentioned in this article, and visit www.cisco.com/univercd to read about the configurations and options available for both of these vital protocols.

Improve Your Golf Short Game

one of the most important areas of your golf is to constantly Improve Your golf short game. When you consider that 80% of your shots are taken withing 150 yard of the pin, you begin to realize how important it is to always work on improving your golf short game.

The key to improving your short game is to try and stay relaxed. This should not be too difficult since you have just done the hard part - teed off - probably in front of a small audience! Now all you have to do is get the ball to the pin without making any horrifying mistakes.

The also need to be comfortable with your short irons. Consider going to the driving range with only your 5, 7 and 9 irons. Work through each club and find out exactly what sort of distance and height you get when you are hitting them correctly.

Another good idea is to only play with these 3 clubs for your short irons (not including your wedges) until it becomes second nature as to which one you select for different situations. This way, you will not be confusing yourself with too much choice.

Another important aspect of improving your golf short game is to get comfortable with your wedges around the green. Many shots can be wasted by hitting the top of the ball with your pitching wedge and sending it into the rough on the far side of the green. This is very frustrating and can cost you many shots on your score.

Make plenty of time to practice with your pitching wedge at the practice green. The key here is to first create 1 set up that you can can use to always guarantee that you get onto the green. Once you are comfortable with this and have used it successfully on a few rounds, mix it up a bit and create 2 or 3 other set ups for different distances and lies.

The key to using your wedges around the green is to not get smart too quickly. These are critical shots and carry a hefty price if they are carelessly executed.

Finally, lets not forget the dreaded bunker shots. Bunker shots are fact of life in your short game. You need to practice these and find the club that suits you best for taking shots in the sand. Always remember that bunker shots are just another shot and don't really need to be feared.

With time and practice, you will see your short game improve. This improvement will dramatically improve your score too.
